Surreal Paintings Blur the Line Between Fact and Fantasy

London-born artist Neil Simone creates intriguing paintings that are filled with layer upon layer of strange realities. With a surreal approach, the artist paints fragmented scenes inside of scenes to blur the distinction between fact and fantasy.

Viewers will find themselves exploring the paintings in an attempt to understand the various elements that come together to produce the dream-like landscapes. However, the visually exciting compositions do not provide logical explanations. Fragmented windows, distorted walls, and unrealistic details like a door in the middle of a forest create new worlds that are open to interpretation.

“I paint the way that I do because I see the world as a dimension of shadows, shapes, contradictions and ever changing fragile boundaries,” explains Simone.
