Japanese Art Store Lines Walls with Every Pigment Imaginable

With a sleek, modern design and thousands of colourful hues lining its walls, the new “art supply laboratory” known as Pigment is an art lover's dream come true. Owned by the Japanese company Warehouse Terrada and built under the architectural design of Kengo Kuma, this unique shop, based in Tokyo, acts as both a hub for artists to gather supplies and collaborate, as well as a venue that provides the opportunity for traditional material manufacturers to deliver high quality products that have been passed down for generations to their clients.

Pigment is a concept art store that strives to go above and beyond, from stocking 4,200 colours of pigments to offering a range of art workshops and an in-house gallery that exhibits young artists. The laboratory creates a rich experience for hobby artists and professionals alike. Employers that are experts of painting tools are available to pass on knowledge and advice regarding features and instructions on how to use the supplies. The building was constructed using organic curved surfaces reminiscent of bamboo blinds, with an open space concept that “enriches your imagination just by visiting.” With a welcoming environment, and enough variety of stock to fuel any creative activities, Pigment is an art store that attempts to be more.
