Red Ribbon Staircase Zigzags Through Building

What's that zigzagging through the building? Called the "ribbon of connectivity," it's a striking crimson staircase that's one of the main features in this London building. Clive Wilkinson Architects designed it as a signature piece for investment bank Macquarie's London office.

"It folds around, based on where we needed to enter each level," Clive Wilkinson explains. "That's how it translates into sculptural." Macquarie's head of workplace design, Anthony Henry, says, "Clive walked a fine line between the solid and serious and the dynamic and innovative."

Wilkinson also added in LED illuminating stair treads to really make the staircase pop.
