Re-Imagining the Hoover Dam (3 pics)

Malaysian architect Yheu-Shen Chua recently submitted this visually stunning entry into the eVolo 2011 Skyscraper Competition. Re-Imagining the Hoover Dam merges the dam's viewing platform, bridge, and gallery into a “single vertical super structure.”

One of the main purposes of the project is to allow the water from the upstream river to engage directly with the visitors through a series of containers. A hanging tower above the 700-foot drop into the Black Canyon would be used as gallery and a vertical aquarium.

Although it's hard to tell how practical Chua's structure really is, we give the UK-based architect mad props for this radical design.
