Inspired by Flemish paintings, particularly those by famed Dutch painter Rembrandt, photographer Sacha Goldberger has created a beautiful set of portraits. "I like the light and the way characters pose and look at you," he says.
Goldberger not only worked with a team on costumes, make-up and hair, he enlisted the help of some highly unconventional friends. "All of the animals are real," he says. "It was very complicated to shoot them, but also a very fun experience.
"I wanted my girlfriend to pose with the Marabou Stork," he continues. "Unfortunately, it escaped and flew all over the studio. It felt like we were in Jurassic Park. And I couldn't resist to shoot my grandmother (otherwise known as Super Mamika)."
