Manchester’s Gorgeous Color-Changing Infinity Lights

This new 10-meteres-square installation by Squidsoup asks visitors to walk through it, becoming one with the art. Made exclusively for Quays Culture and The University of Salford, Aeolian Light is made up of thousands of points of light floating and changing in color in response to both the wind and human movement. Located at Salford Quays, in Manchester, England, a city known for its notoriously windy weather, both children and adults get to be transported into a pixelated virtual world where the wind can enhance their experience.

As Quays Culture states, “As you walk through the artwork, the wind will be visualized as light in the space around you. When the wind blows hard the space feels chaotic and turbulent – with many lights flickering and forming. On quieter evenings, the experience is calm and gentle. Human responsive as well as wind responsive, by walking and playing amongst the lights you will leave trails of luminescence behind you as you move through the space.”

We were just given these exclusive photos of Aeolian Light. Of course, this isn't the first time we've written about Squidsoup's installation. (See here.) This large-scale, free outdoor experience started yesterday, December 18th and will run until January 7, 2015.
