Whimsical Watercolor Paintings of Wild Animals

Illustrator Rop van Mierlo has recently been nominated for the Dutch Design Awards 2011 with his critically acclaimed book Wild Animals. Currently available all over the globe, including the MOMA in NYC, the Palais de Tokyo, Colette in Paris and all Paul Smith stores in the world, the book has been a sensation for design lovers who've fallen in love with his illustrations. The animals' characters spring to life in bright watercolor paint on a simple, white background.

Rop has started working on a sequel to Wild Animals and is teaming up with FOUNDBYJAMES.com on a unique print. Especially for his friend James, he's illustrate one more amazing animal; the Housecat. (It's teasing James because the curator and traveler is never at home.) A limited amount of 9 (referring to the 9 lives of a cat), numbered and hand-signed prints are available for sale on FOUNDBYJAMES.com.

If you haven't stopped by FOUNDBYJAMES.com before, make sure to check it out. Called a “treasure finder” by Tina Roth Eisenberg of SwissMiss, James travels the world and hunts down interesting objects. He then sells them on his website at limited edition. “On this website I share my collection of personal treasures with others,” he says. “I invite you to browse the shop and my notes to get a taste of my love for art and design.” Sounds like a fantastic job. (By the way, he's got amazing taste!)
