Remote-Controlled Bed Hangs from the Ceiling Like a Hammock

Polish designer Wiktor Jazwiec has crafted an elegant bed that attaches to the ceiling and hangs likes a hammock. Using strong jute ropes, a pulley system, and a steel safety line, the 176-pound structure hovers over the floor and adds a unique touch to any bedroom.

Jazwiec's hanging bed has two stances that are each controlled by a remote: the “sleeping” position, where the bunk is suspended 18 inches above the ground; and the “pulled up” position, which retracts the bed directly under the ceiling. These options are great for small spaces, and they allow you to utilize the room for other things while awake.

In addition to its mobility, the furniture features fully-adjustable backlit accents, located where the ropes and structure meet. Like the lights, the frame comes in a variety of woods and finishes. Jazwiec will work with you to specially customize the piece, and he says that installation is easy. All you need is a drill and a hammer, and you too can have this bed in your home.
