Yusuke Oono presents a little holiday cheer in this festive 360 degree Christmas book. Back in October, the German-based artist was a top winner in the Fab Cafe laser cutter design contest, winning with the intricate designs of his fairytale storybook. This time, he takes us on an adventure into a wintery wonderland of Christmas. The artist says, "The initial idea of this 360 degree book is expressing one scene of a story in a three dimensional way using a whole page of a book," and Oono is certainly successful with that idea in all of his many designs.
The pages of this Christmas book feature some typical characters of the winter season, including Santa Claus, reindeer, and a snowman, set around a central Christmas tree, with snowflakes falling all around. Oono designs each product with 3D CAD software which is more often used for architecture. This time, he designed the central tree around the spine, making the object appear more three dimensional, while the rest of the creatures and characters in the story are flat. Oono hopes that when readers open the closed book, they are surprised by the interior pages dramatically transforming into a captivating tale of imagination.
